Overview
PLANAPP has established a co-operation protocol in partnership with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC) aiming at developing regional input-output models and software to simulate economic impacts on a regional scale based on the input-output models developed- The project also involves an expert who will validate the scientific quality and applicability of the models and software (including the preparation of the user manual), as well as providing training services for PLANAPP’s workers and consultants.
Objectives
- The main objective is to create a tool for analysing Portugal’s regional and interregional production structure and projecting its economic impacts using regional input-output models. This software, which will be owned by PLANAPP, can be used by other public organisations when duly accredited for the purpose and with the necessary training, which will be provided by PLANAPP.
- By establishing regional input-output models and multipliers for the country’s seven NUTS II regions, a report will be drawn up explaining the interregional trade of each region and the main spill-over effects between them and the rest of the country resulting from exogenous shocks.
Duration
This project began in May 2022 and will be completed in December 2023, with some activities planned for 2024.
