Investment and expansion of the service industry in Agriculture in Portugal

In recent years there has been a growth of outsourcing in the Portuguese agricultural sector, based on contracting-out, machinery rental and other services. However, it cannot be said that this phenomenon is replacing investment in these types of goods, since investment has continued to grow in recent years, involving very different factors, depending on the geographical region and economic scale of the farms. Even so, the apparent increase in yields raises some questions that merit further investigation into the phenomenon in question.”

Written by PlanAPP consultants Ana Filipa Fernandes and Guilherme Azambuja, the article is part of issue no. 25 of the Portuguese Office of Planning, Policy and General Administration (GPP)’s magazine, CULTIVAR – Notes on Investigation and Foresight.
